Nice little write up. That place is awsome and believe me, they have recieved my share of $ there. I really to eat there on the weekends. They have an omlette cook that is outragiously good. Just the omlette will fill you up. Totally retrofitted my Pete with LEDs from there and the prices are reasonable too.:biggrin_25519::yes2557::biggrin_25520:

Love stopping at the Iowa 80! They seem to cater to everyone, drivers and travelers too. Too bad they did not have more than one.

The problem with that, is that if they were to have more than one, the quality wouldn't be as good, at the out laying location.
    Case in point.
Bosslemans remodel and operated the resturant at the Pliot location out in Jamestown,NM.
Being hundreds of miles away from the home location, the quality of food and servce hit the floor in the short time they ran the place.
Every time i would eat there, the service just scked more and more, the food wasn't to far behind.
I blame this on Bossleman's not hiring a Resturant manager who actullay cared about the product they were offering. theyu hired a local person, who wasn;t worried about Mr. Bossleman dropping in at moment notice.

Now i see Denny;s moved in. At least with Denny's thier Regioanl Manager is req. to stop by at least bi weekly.

Yea I can see your point with Bosselmans
I did remember after reading your post that Iowa 80 does have more than one. The Petro in Joplin and the one in Oak Grove MO are Iowa 80s. Not quit as big as Iowa but still all the class.

I'm glad you all are impressed! Me, I'm not to impressed with the place.

Sure, when I first started driving I was caught up in all that glitch & glamor of chrome & lights. The first time I went in there I ohhhhhed & ahhhhhed over all that shiny stuff & satisfied my a.d.d at the same time.

But honestly it really isn't all that! I stopped there this past weekend for the first time in several years. The service in the restaurant was poor. I was waited on quite quickly at first, but it went south from there. I sat there for nearly 30 minutes waiting for her to come refill my drink. At 1 time I held the glass out in front of her while she was walking by... still no refill. She asked the people sitting next to me several times. But then again they were tourist just passing thru with grandma, grandpa, & 4 grandbabies in tow. After I gave up on the drink I then waited awhile longer for my bill.... All I wanted to do was leave. I didn't leave her a tip because I feel that I got poor service. The funny thing is I didn't see the tourists leave her a tip either... And she was there making sure they were doing OK! The food made me sick, but I beleive that wascaused by not having a drink to wash it down with. The wi-fi signal wasn't worth a crap inside the building or anywhere near the building. I ended up parking back by the truck wash to get a great wi-fi signal. The place was over populated by tourists... They ran wild all over the place. Chrome shop, theaters, everywhere. I dismissed it at first thinking it was just a family out on the truck for the last time before school starts. Then when I went out side to smoke a cigarette I saw a couple of the same family scurry to there car with Illinois plates & away they went. Only 1 towel in the showers, but the water was nice & warm & the shower rooms seem larger then what they did years ago. They better be bigger since they added on to the place. It cost me $6.00 to do my laundry, but that price isn't bad. What bothered me was that the only empty washers left available to use stunk like a nasty driver who hadn't bathed in 3 weeks. The change machine in the laundry room didn't work. The change machine in the game room adjacent to the mall food court didn't work... So I ended up going & standing in line for 20 minutes to get 4 freaking quarters.

The only good thing I see from that place other then all the pretty colors.... Is that I was actually able to watch a decent movie.
