Time management

You get 70 hrs in the week for on duty and driving. The Idea is to only go on duty when necessary to save hrs. If you eat up your hrs to soon then you will have to sit for 34 hrs to get a fresh 70 back.

 

Most drivers go off duty at every opportunity.

It doesn't stop the 14 hour day clock, but it does save on your 70.

 

Nobody paying hourly is going to pay you to be on duty while eating meals.

Regional, so you're probably looking to be home weekly. In most cases that's going to mean the company is going to expect you to working long days.

 

I don’t think you’ll find many trucking jobs that’ll let you coast. I go to work Sunday evening and get home Friday evening, if all goes according to plan, and I’m in my truck, or near my truck, the entire time. That’s typical. As already noted, trucking companies don’t invest in expensive equipment without expecting a return on their investment.

 

You probably ought to consider doing something else, then.
