People log off duty whenever they can to save their 70. When I run OTR I try to keep my driving/on duty limited to under 10 hours a day. This means I never run out of hours and don't have to do a reset.
Your perspective of not running yourself "ragged" isn't going to fly with many trucking companies. I am almost never running "ragged" and neither are any of the experienced guys I know. We know how to manage our time and plan our days. What you will be expected to do is be moving the truck, if the wheels aren't turning then it isn't making money.
If you want to run when you want and how you want then buy a truck and lease on to a company. Most larger companies wont care how much or how little you run since they are self insured.Mototom and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
@Chinatown
Where are you located? Might look at Roehl or someone with a similar home program.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
lol, so do you get paid while on breaks or are you eating in the truck because you're sitting at a customer?FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

I log off duty or sleeper berth as much as possible. If I'm not being paid, then I'm in the sleeper berth or off duty.
If you don't log this way, you'll be out of hours so much, the paychecks will be disappointing at best.Mototom and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -

Nice. I should know better than to say things like 'nobody' or never.

30 minutes paid. 30 minutes unpaid if you choose to take it which I rarely do.tinytim Thanks this.

That’s where most differ from me, what a seasons driver would consider a disappointing pay check is all I need. What others would consider good money would put me in a higher tax bracket. I’m coming into this job already making 35k a year for breathing 1/2 tax free. 20k a year in a truck puts me where I am now. Anything more than that and it’s bonus. If I can net $500 a week I’m goodFlaSwampRat Thanks this.
