Hey everyone, I've spent a lot of time here recently doing some research and getting acquainted with what's what. About to finish class and get my class A CDL within the next week or so. I've spent the last 20+ yrs in a steel mill that recently shut down. Ran just about every piece of equipment there and dont feel like starting as a laborer in another similar setting so I felt that this was a logical progression. Looking forward to the road ahead (figurative and literal). Only thing I'm bummed about is how many trucks are going to auto, I'm learning on a 10sp and digging it. Oh well, why complain about something I cant control. Anyway, im sure I'll be on here quite a bit. Talk at ya later.

What type trucking job are you looking for?

I have a wife and 3 kids so I'd prefer something local but I'm already preparing myself to do 6-12 months regional just for the experience. Right now I'm considering Northern Refrigerated, they have a little yard in Ontario. Then I'd try to get something closer to Riverside...eventually. Cant really be too choosy at this point. I have all my endorsements, just looking to gain experience and get paid the most I can while I'm doing it. Hope to at least get my own truck, slip seating sounds like it can be nasty at its best.Last edited: Dec 8, 2019
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Northern Refrigerated is probably a good choice to get started. There's some driver unload, but compared to what you've been doing, won't be difficult at all.
Do that for a few months, then probably get a decent tanker job around LA/Southern, CA.JaySco Thanks this. -
That's kinda what I'm thinking. Thanks

Try putting in applications at FedEx UPS Pepsi Coke and some local beer deliveries depending if they need people they might train you and you could skip otr and go straight to local
