Question to everyone. Do you get to choose where you go? Can you deny a route? I guess I am a little concerned about getting any mountain route with winter approaching and being inexperienced.

Most companies are forced dispatch meaning you go where they tell you. Best would be dedicated route where your doing the same thing.

Update! Got my CDL end of November. Have been trying to onboard with Pam for weeks now even while still in school. What a mess! Paperwork issues, etc. Already have a bad taste in my mouth.
Question: remind me of any local jobs here in Lakeland, Florida that may be hiring. Also....I am definitely open to Southeast regional if any of you know who is hiring for either of those with no experience?

    Forget Pam.
Raven Transport hires for southeast regional, but must be graduate from approved school.
No driver facing cameras & trucks run 70 mph.
For those brand-new CDL drivers graduating from a National Publicly Funded Truck Driving School (8 Week Tech School), we have a program for you; earn while you train (6 weeks) and then $.44.5 CPM until you make the one-year experience level. Paid orientation. Rider program and Pet Policy available.

Will that be any different at a different company?

But what paperwork issues, exactly, are you talking about?

WEL has terminal in Winterhaven, Florida

    *Winterhaven, Florida terminal.
    • Over-the-road (OTR) drivers are usually on the road for weeks at a time. This gives you the most time to experience the country and enjoy the adventure.
    • Regional drivers are home more frequently and are paid steadily.
    • Dedicated drivers are home weekly (or more) because they drive within a 300-mile radius.
    • Local drivers have out and back freight with daily home time.
    • Tuition reimbursement (for approved driving schools)
    • Rider Program (bring your friends, family, or even your dog along!)

Thank you for all your responses! I have heard horrible things about Pam from Day 1. And pay is bottom of the barrel at .30 cpm. I was looking into Raven. The school I went to is accredited but it was only 3 weeks (160 hours).
