Ok Jim I talked to Jason and Erin and they like being called ninjas. If you send me your info. I will put you as my referral If you take my out to dinner when you get your referral money. Jason knew it was you that called him a ninja, right away!!!
-
LOL, when you get to Omaha ask Jason the background of the name -- you'll get a laugh out of it!
He knows who I am so all you'll need to do is get the name from him when you get there to put down on the forms. Dinner's on me either way.
(BTW the hotel you're staying at has a nice bar & grill downstairs -- all the food is tasty but try the coconut chicken salad, it is over the top)
Good luck in orientation,
JimGitty Thanks this. -
So do they take on someone just out of school?
-
I don't think so... when I started last year the basic experience requirement was either 2 years OTR or 1 year OTR with a certificate of completion from a recognized truck driving school. Given the issues with the economy of late I doubt these standards have been eased up, given how many experienced drivers are job hunting at the moment.
If you are just out of school I would recommend applying all your efforts to whatever job you land and keeping your nose clean (no preventables, no log violations, no tickets, etc.) for at least a year before considering moving to another job.
Good luck,
Jim -
Should be there this Monday. Erin is checking with greyhound for the trip. So where are you going to take me to dinner in your big fancy truck?
-
Jim,
Do you choose the 2yr lease or 4yr lease? Also why the volvo over the Peterbilt 387. I hear so many problems out of the Volvo eletrical systems form friends they all tell me to run. Im sure you have heard some stuff as well, but what was the deciding factor?
What was the price of fuel in joplin? how bout else where? how many mpg r u getting.... cant answer until know all the variables!! -
Ugh, the grey dog... good luck man.
I don't even have a spare seat in my truck, we'll steal one of the F-150's lol.
Jim -
I leased a new truck so it is a four year lease, though you can pay it off early if you so choose. The reason I moved to Hill Bros (one of them at least) was that they leased Volvos -- its the best ride, the nicest interior and one of the most fuel efficient.
The price of fuel varies... at Joplin I paid about fifteen cents under the pump price. $2.24 if I remember correctly. I don't track mpg really, I track fuel expense (basically: fuel cost - FSC received / miles run).

Hey, Mr. Jim! Appreciate your posts, and am contemplating starting w/ HB. I'm curious about your comment that I "pasted" above. I understand that you are running less than 2500 and the next highest "net" earner is # 3200. If I understood that correctly, does everyone else run under 2500?
I doubt it, so I guess I'm interested in asking you if you know why? Obviously, 3200 will "gross" more than running 2500 will, but if you can "tweak" a similar, although less, "net" it doesn't take a "lazy" man long to realize which one to adapt to.
Thanks again for past posts, and I hope that our paths may cross one day!
