Lots of members here on this site. Anybody ever have a strap or break a chain when they were sideswiped or rubbed up against something. It Never happened to me but I only pulled open deck for five years. Did have several Straps cut by freight.
D.Tibbitt, Jacoooooooo and LoneCowboy Thank this. -
Run a 96" flat and tell me you can get them inside the rub rails everytime. -
Well, it happened to somebody.
This stuff doesn't just appear out of thin air. Think the flatbed company one day just decided to increase their costs of manufacture just for the h-e-double hockey sticks of it??
Somebody, somewhere, messed up bad. -
I was responding to someone else. The conversation was about chains hooked to rubrail. Link the reg that says that's not allowed.cke Thanks this.

It happens so infrequently the FMCSA decided the “added Safety” was not worth the inconsistent enforcement at rescinded the law. Perfectly legal to have straps out.

Use your big clevis' (clevi?) in the manner of a "Load Choker."

You sure won’t if you haul drywall.D.Tibbitt, cke and jamespmack Thank this.

I'm sure it has happened. My point was has anybody had first hand experience with securement being damaged when it's outside of a rub rail.
D.Tibbitt, cke and jamespmack Thank this. -
I have not. It could.
