Wife and I had dinner with our Freind Jim and his wife after I got in off the road last night. He was telling me about being chained up recently out in the N West. If you’ve ever run chains at all you know there is a peculiar noise from them.

Anyways, said he was nearly pushing snow trying to get to the top of Mt. Hood, and hadn’t seen anyone on the road for ever....

Gets up by the top and sees this International setting in the road, suddenly the door of the International flies open and this Mexican guy jumps out and right into his path.... Jim said, I nearly punshed the floorboard out trying to keep from hitting him!!!

He got stopped and the guy ran around to his door trying to talk in broken English.... ( Me broke down for 3 days out of fuel, ride to next town with you ) .... Jim said, I keep bread and peanut butter in the truck for just in case situations, said that little guy was so hungry he ate the rest of the bread and peanut butter, and drank all the coffee from his thermos. Guys tractor was out of fuel, and reefer was out of fuel.

I had to laugh when Jim told of how the guy crumbled up a slice of bread and put in his coffee lol....

That is simply a glimpse into the life of running in bad weather, we never know what will happen no matter the season, but in times like this it can get crucial.

Good to have folks like my Freind Jim that although tough as a pine knot, still has compassion for his fellow drivers.....

Edit: Jim still runs an old A model with no a/c and a heater that only works on 1 speed, and he’s fine with that lol.....

    Mornin'!!!
Sitting at the kitchen table eating left over chicken fajita filling, drinking coffee and watching the sun rise. Pretty good way to start the day.
