Just wondering, why can't you get someone in your family to train you?

Had to do a search through your posts because your request is quite extraordinary.

You have 3 trucks and are wanting to start a small company. You have no experience, neither does your husband, but you have an uncle with 7 yrs who wants to go in with you. I get the feeling that you dont trust this particular uncle.

I dont argue about money. Without absolute trust in your business partner, youre going to go to war with your partner and the business will suffer. Business partnerships are like a marriage with twice the bad times and half the good times. Youre married, so you should understand what this will mean.

Personally, I would advise against you trying to make a start in the trucking industry as the fleet owner, without first being a fleet driver. Want a real trucking education? Go work for someone else, THEN start your company. It will be much harder for someone to take advantage of you then

Or just go to a company like Swift just to gain some experience. They have a terminal in Gary IN. Not too far from Chi-town.

Run from this idea. Theres a reason they want you to lease their trucks and its probably because they arent making it in the industry right now. The trucking industry isnt something that you learn in a few weeks of following someone around.

Theres a very good reason that we have a saying in this industry, "how do you end up with a million dollars in trucking, you start with 2 million".

What do you guys have to offer? Where do you run? What kind of equipment?

I am 26 years old and have over 3 years experiance. I drove everywhere from New York City to Los Angeles and every point in between. I ran both van and reefer. Actually most of my career so far has been with reefer produce. I am willing to train you if the money is right. I live northwest of Chicago.
