The rumors have been confirmed. According to Lee, NEMF management has decided to institute a 5% pay cut for all Eastern personnel effective Monday 07/12/09.
In addition to the above news (which I posted on the other thread here) I have been informed that new solo drivers will only be offered .35 cpm and new team drivers will split .44 cpm (.22 cpm per driver).
Insurance charges may also be higher for new hires. Have not been given any specifics on this as of this date though.

It just amazes me how this company has stayed in business . I have never seen such blatant stupidity in all my days as a working man .
-
do you work there still???? how much more stupidity could they possibly do??? they havent made a profit in 13 years. Mike should have taken the money and just burned it.
-
And the drivers who stay with them are just as stupid. I worked for this company for four months...ate up my meager savings because I could NOT make a living wage with them. Every day was a new nightmare with them. I stuck it out as long as I could, trying to keep a positive attitude, telling myself, "it will get better". It never did. I put a video up on YouTube entitled, "Truck Bunk Shot and a little complaining". It shows
the miserable little bunk I "slept" in. And a clip of that piece of crap truck
trying to pull a slight incline. Driver's BEWARE!!! Avoid this company like
the bubonic plaque. And they are NOT "female friendly". -

any more videos??? Any word on how Eastern is doing???

anyone still post here??? Jason?????

Still here.
Kim and I took the pay cut and have had to cut some expenses at home to survive.
We turned off our Verizon air card (internet while on the road) so I do not get on here nearly as much as I used to. Saving; $60.00 per month
Reduced our calling plan for our cell phone from 1500 anytime minutes per month to 700 anytime minutes. Saving; $40.00 per month
Turned off Kim's MSN dial up service. Saving; $22.00 per month
Turned off our home phone (Vonage). Saving $25.00 per month
Total savings about $147.00 per month. Too bad this 5% pay cut took away over $90.00 per WEEK from us.
Kinda sucks that we are doing the same job for less money but at least we still have a job at this point.
We are in survival mode now and are doing everything we possibly can to hang on.
Heck we even canceled our plans for our 20th anniversary to cover an extra trip to Florida for Eastern.
I just hope that when things turn around we will be rewarded with top team pay which was .50 cpm. Time will tell.Last edited: Aug 28, 2009

good to hear from you. One you give back you will never see it again. MS has more money than the pope. Who is going to get it??? His grandchildren. He just wants to show one last power trip. now that he has to reach in his own pocket hes pissed off. If he fixed his linehaul problems years ago he wouldnt be losing money. The system is pitiful. How are the Eastern people doing??? Pat, Tom, Bri, Lee???
