Has nothing to do with pushing my driver. It has to do with me wanting to understand the rules to the game we play in. In this instance we were trying to get to a load before they closed at 4pm. He was up against his 30 min break but we made it without issue.Upinsmoke Thanks this.

On duty.
I was once captured 20 minutes from delivery in Sayre NY at or near the PA line with 1 hour and fifteen minutes left on paper against the 70 hour week HOS. Inspection 30 minutes and released. Delivered 15 minutes plus 20 and done 10 minutes all out on the 70 hour week. PC took care of that.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
I disagree. If you don't have time for an inspection, bad weather, or accidents then perhaps the load was too tight to begin with.
Sure, it may be theroretically possible to run that load, but not practical. A traffic accident or bad weather could have cost more downtime. If there was enough time on the load you wouldn't even be worrying about the issue... -
I agree. Always allow some hours or even a half a day loose time in your planning. So that a inspection does not cost you 5000 dollar load or whatever due to scheduling too tight. Thats on the management.
Truckers are not machines and are subject to interception for any number of inspections, accidents or god knows what else random life events. -
Shouldn't someone who has employees already know the rules of this game?whoopNride, flood, spyder7723 and 5 others Thank this.

Only if you want to be successful. There's no information available on how many of these mom and pop outfits go out of business in the first year or two but I'll bet it';s the majority of them.jamespmack and Upinsmoke Thank this.

I dont believe you have enough information from my post to:
- Assume I run my drivers hard.
- Assume I dont leave time for things to go wrong.
I learn something new every day. Just because someone has drivers doesnt mean they know it all.Bean Jr., brian991219 and Upinsmoke Thank this. -
This is basic stuff. Covered in the green book. You should probably read it.Socal Xpress, JonJon78 and Upinsmoke Thank this.
