The market has all but disappeared for cabovers thanks to increased length laws.

    Thank you, Lord!

they have fallen out of favor with companies who have done everything they can to retain drivers... a few smaller companies run them but mostly owner operators from what i see...

personally i love the big sleeper cabover Petes, Shakers & Aerodyne KW... i missed a really good deal on a KW Aerodyne cabover a week or so ago...

They love c/o's in Mexico, not sure why. Some New England movers love them as well, because of the narrow Boston/NY/Jersey/Ct streets. :biggrin_2552:

I used to run an K-100 with Air Steer in it... Pulled orange trailers with it, but it went a lot faster and the 55 that they did...

its a shame you don't see more of them, i'm a cab over nut always have been.
saw a really nice cab over for sale a while a go. it was a k100e with a double eagle sleeper with all the apartment comforts. would have loved to buy that rig and just float around the country for a while.

The first truck I ever drove was an old 86 GMC Astro cabover, no power steering, no air ride, no A/C. and the exhaust used to give me a headache. It was a real treat climbing in and out in the winter when the steps iced up, you had to make sure you held on tight to the hand rail. These new truckers who have only driven these new modern trucks really don't know how good and how easy they have it.

They served their purpose back then, to meet the length laws, but they are outdated now, They are really not that economical, the newer aerodynamic trucks are much better for fuel economy, and much more comfortable.

Before I got my class A I drove the ol' gas engine cab over straight truck hauling grain during harvest. Was fun and still do it on occasions.

I got this truck new in 1980. After the GMC Astro I was in before I thought I was in big truck heaven. Notice the 42 ft, 96" wide trailer behind it. There were still quite a few of those around back then.
