warranties are great, you can go broke waiting for your free repairs to get done as the truck goes to the back of the line for repairs for 6 weeks.
fuel is a great tax write off for a paid off truck..... that will actually run
New vs pre def truck

If you buy new, one of the keys is to buy local to where you operate. Build a repore with the manager of the operation and especially the service writer.
That's what I've done. I always respond to the corporate email surveys and when the shop does a good job, or poor job, which rarely happens, I make sure the suits know.
I have never had to wait in line for any extended period of time for service or warranty issues since I bought new 4 years ago.Echo5kilo, PPLC, Ridlingdj and 1 other person Thank this. -
I don't think i'll ever buy anything but new ever again. Eventually you get tired of the bs between repairs, downtime, and if you get a ####, repowering loads.
I'd recommend KW T680 with X15 Cummins and Endurant 12sp auto. -
If I was to buy new it will be a w900 or another 379 or now a 389 thanks to the governmentRubber duck kw Thanks this.

I get it but the 990's aren't that special anymore IMO. The w900 is no longer. For me its about efficiency and less about looking cool. Although, riding in a brand new T680 aint bad! Its probably the best in the business for your typical linehaul type application.PE_T Thanks this.

Did they actually kill off the 900? I know they're still around for 2020.Midwest Trucker Thanks this.

For long term in my normal line they hold way better than the more company stay trucks that are out there I put a fair amount of dirt road miles on a truck and will still run 60 mph on the dirt road just this last fall I watched a guy lease 4 new trucks hauling with me and before we were done in 3 months he send 3 of them back and my 379 never missed a beat on the dirt roads
As far as I know you can still order them but what there plans are for long term idk but I would think that it would be foolish they are still selling great -
Well.. hell. Maybe im mistaken? I thought they were done. Why drop the 990 and keep building the 900?
I still would roll the 680 fully loaded for 145k vs a loaded 900 for what... 175k? Not to mention better operating costs.
Edit: Honestly though who the hell knows what I would do. Im buying trucks for other guys to drive but I want to be extremely proud of and make money. If it was just me, I may go wild. -
You may even want a T880 with a X15 performance if heavy. Efficiency if not.
-
You wait till year end and I'm sure you could pick up a w9 for an extra 15k over a 680, unless you get a completely stripped down 680. If I were to buy a new truck it'd probably be a 389, simply because I hate the KW dashes after about 03.
