So I'm setting up to pay my quarterly estimated taxes and file my end of year.
It took me a grand total of 45 minutes to pull together the last couple of pieces and drop it off with the accountant. All organized and ready to go.
How is this hard?
And yes, my accountant is very well versed in the specific taxes in dealing with trucking and business owning in general.
Why do people scream about taxes?

People not on this forum, actually. Other O/O's I know locally. Constantly rushing around trying to pull together their logs, their receipts, and all their other paperwork just to run down to the H&R Block guy cause "I kin got mah ree-fund faster!"
First of all, how are you getting a refund while owning a business? Overpaying your quarterly Estimated? That's just giving the government a free loan!
Secondly, just how hard is it to keep your paperwork organized on a regular basis? I record my receipts and file everything at the end of every day in an expanding file, then file everything at the house first thing when I get home. Files and summaries go to the accountant every quarter.
Seriously, this isn't hard. Organization and discipline makes life so much easier, especially as a business owner.heyns57, Wahoo wanie and Upinsmoke Thank this. -
Everyone is so happy when they set up their new company.
Six months later they are on the grey dog going back home.

kemosabi49, brsims and Bakerman Thank this. -
I'm guessing because it hurts seeing money go away that you don't really seem to get much for, the usual reason I've heard from people.

Mostly the ones who start up there business and run there butts off and when you ask about what type of filing system they have its always "yeah I still gotta get around to that". End of the year comes and they still haven't gotten around to it and it becomes a big steaming ball of pooh.
bzinger, brian991219, kemosabi49 and 2 others Thank this. -
Is your accountant a CPA? If not, you may be screaming about taxes in the near future as well when you find out they made an error.
