The first inspection is on the truck owner
-
You only pay for the first inspection, and Landstar will pay from there on out as long as the equipment passes.
-
This was not my understanding or experience. A driver can be approved without owning a truck if he is going through LS orientation to operate a previously approved tractor for another BCO otherwise the tractor must be acquired and pass the inspection prior to scheduling orientation and final approval. I literally took possession of and had my new truck inspected the day before heading to Rockford for orientation back in 2015

All you need is written proof you have been approved for a truck. It's that easy.
Landstar wants you to have your truck by orientation. There was a guy at my orientation who came in his pickup truck because he wouldn't burn 1000 miles of diesel fuel until he knew he was accepted.
It is not the way i would do it, nor is it the way i did do it, but you can do it that way if you choose to. I wanted to hit the asphalt running once i got my trailer.
