I dropped my hazmat for the fist time last year. I currently don't need it but I'm thinking about taking the test this summer and putting it back on. I feel that if I can carry it then I should have it on me at all times. Sorta like some of the tools I carry that never make it out of my tool bag.

Hi, I am a former truck driver and wondering if they will accept me into prison?
expedite_it, Studebaker Hawk, tarmadilo and 2 others Thank this. -
It's a toss up as to what time to add it back on.
I put mine back on. As such. Every 2 1/2 years I'm either renewing my fingerprints to keep my license valid or taking the test to renew my license.
2 months ago I did the fingerprints. If I didn't. My license would have been suspended. Next summer. I'll have to renew.
Course. It don't matter when it's done now for my state. They just extended the license time frame from 5 years to 8 years now. And the renewal fee went up $20. Now. I'll be renewing my license every 8 years and fingerprints every 5 years. -
The accommodations in a truck are actually a downgrade in some ways.
truckerdave1970 and not4hire Thank this. -
Do you really want a toliet in your cab anyway? What happen when it breaks and you cannot flush

You bring up another point. I need to get the REALID in Pennsylvania. I need this to get into Federal facilities and military bases. One guy I know had his upgraded to 8 years while another guy had his for only 4. I wonder which is correct or if somebody is processing it incorrectly.

If you add it on during the timeframe and/or apply for a duplicate to get the gold star. You'll still have the same expiration date. That never changes unless the state makes changes.
That's why my dillemma. We HAD 5 year licenses. I REadded the haz 2 1/2 years after renewal. That involved test and fingerprints. Same expiration date. Then 2 1/2 years later I had to test again to renew my license. 2 1/2 years later it was fingerprints again.
I just got my star 2 months again. And for some reason my license is MIA. I went in 2 days ago and got a duplicate. I still the same June 2022 expiration date.
Starting last week. Everyone that renews gets an 8 year license now. Don't know how that works out considering the eyes can go at any day. I had to get a new mugshot and eye exam. Almost failed the eyes.
I don't know about your 8 years and 4 years comment. -
For me it was a very easy transition...
I knew driving was what I wanted to do. Dad was an owner op so I grew up around it. Yes unfortunately I chose the wrong path for a long time. But I can home in 2015 and never looked back. Getting my cdl and joining this industry saved my life. I ##### love being out here! We all know how some of the four wheelers and other #### can get on our nerves. But I wouldn’t change it. What I will say is I’ve only been driving a few years and I’ve ALWAYS gave the vets in this game my utmost respect which we all should. But the disrespect out here between drivers is crazy. But I digress, yes I’m a felon and I made it work. Started off driving for 10cpm just to get my foot in the door. But that’s how bad I wanted it!!!!!!!![/QUOTE]
