Just wanted to add some anecdotal info to the ring.

I used to work for Melton Truck lines. Now, they have a policy that any truck coming into one of their terminals must be inspected by one of their inspectors. If it's after business hours, the inspection must be done first thing in the morning. This includes outside carriers coming into their terminal down in Laredo. I watched it happen.

Now, the there were only a few Mexican trucks that came and went while I was there, but they were pulling out or dropping off most of the freight going across the border. A few COEs and a few aeros. But they looked like they were in decent shape. I asked the inspector if they were held to the same standards as the Melton trucks and he said yup. And, from what I have seen of Melton's trucks, their standards are pretty good.

Now their load securement isn't what I would consider top-notch, but that's a post for a different thread....

The only thing the Mexican government looks for is the dinero in your pockets.....

About ten years ago an illegal alien gang-banger shot and killed a L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy. He fled back into Mexico and the Mexican government knew exactly where he was...in fact he was hailed as a hero by the people in his town....But the government did nothing....
Mexico has no death penalty, even for serial killers...... and Mexico would not allow extradition because California has a death penalty.....

The sad fact is that family of the slain deputy pleaded with Bush to extradite this killer....Bush gave them lip-service and then later explained to the media that the US/Mexico relationship was too fragile to bring a delicate situation as a deputy's death into the mix.....

He was later apprehended by the FBI who was granted extradition under the conditions that there would be no Death Penalty or even life imprisonment....IIRC he will only serve 5 years and then be returned to Mexico a free man..... and considered a citizen (He'll have dual citizenship) of the US; entitled to benefits....

    That's justice.....:biggrin_25512:

Um, not really. The Mexican government is racially minded. They protect their people against what the perceive as a government of foreign racists trying to hurt one of their people. We all know that this government is far from being racist these days. But thats how the Mexicans see it.

I respect the Mexican government. I really do. They still do things down (in the towns and medium sized cities away from the border) like they used to do in the USA before it began to become so corrupt.

What is the difference between being hit up for 10 bucks by a "corrupt" Mexican cop on the side of the road or getting stopped by a upstanding cop and having to take off of work and show up to the courthouse to get robbed of $300 from the guy with the robe and the gavel? About $290 dollars plus a days lost wages.

Right......Hispanic is a culture and NOT a Race....but you knew that.....

I used to enjoy going to Mexico until we started getting hassled by the Mexican army...
    I don't give a rat's A-z-z who you are...you don't point a weapon at my face....Foreign country or not....

Does our Army treat Mexican nationals like that????
No...when an Illegal gets caught, they are put up at the "Hilton" on our dime...

There is so much hypocrisy going on here...

If you voice an opinion that defends our country against illegals...You're a racist....

And what about that B*ll #### story that we "stole" the West from Mexico?

Yeah....the old Illegal alien adage and excuse to jump the fence: I didn't cross the border...the border crossed me.

    What a crock.....

We didn't steal it...we bought some of it, and fought for and won the rest of it.

The people that were living there at the time (Californios) wanted statehood...voted for and fought for it.

    We didn't steal anything...

    Exactly...
In fact California like Texas, was once a Republic that wanted independence from Mexico, but didn't want to join the union at first either.....

That's the rule these days. It happened where I worked in Laredo and it happens where I work now in the valley.

The load securment is laziness. Mexico has it's rules, but as many of us have done, myself included, throw enough chains to make the short haul.

Hell, back in the day when I was pulling flatbed for BJ McAdams, we took loads of shingle roofing from Little Rock to OKC every night and never put strap one on it, and never lost a piece. Those were the days and in spring ride equipment also.
