Air Brake Certification

    hello. can someone advie me for the State of Pennsylvania.... does the fmcsa require an employee cdl driver to have an air brake cert to complete the repairs on the road or an inspection station?

    I have never been asked to provide proof at the roadside, although the regulations do require it. As the motor carrier it is as simple as printing the certification form and placing it in their driver qualification file, if they are in fact qualified to perform brake adjustments.

    Many motor carriers will have their driver take a quick training class either with a video or have a mechanic show the driver how -if they want the driver to do the adjustments. Most fleets do not want the liability of a driver making repairs to major systems like brakes.
