    Ya eat from grocery stores and Sams is really good for buying big quantities cheap which is awesome for stocking up for several weeks. Its amazing how cheap we can eat if we don't have to have it so convenient.

    I agree food is significant expense. What if you search for food bank in area you are in? This might let you get a few staples/non perishables. Churches and other civic groups may have one. They might tend to vary in terms of any paperwork required, days and hours you could access them, etc. But you might find one that could provide some food to tide you over until you get the paychecks coming in again. Best wishes for the new job!!

    I interviewed a guy one time, and my wife went out to chat with his wife. She told her she wasn’t going to let him drive again, because at his last driving job he spent more on truck stop crap than he made on the trip. Owed the company money after every trip.

    A box of cat food. Senior gourmet.

    //teasing.

    Never mind them hot dogs. Get a couple of dutch ovens that cook off cig lighters over a long period of time, a batch of diced ham, small onions, potatoes and something green all in there takes care of dinner. Breakfast can be very little.

    Never take advances. Many truckers put themselves in the poorhouse and it's a endless wheel for them.

    I've seen those roller dogs thrown at a late night hours. Being at a Love's between 9pm and 11pm is good time to contemplate free roller dogs.

    I am always happy to give another driver a shower credit if I am asked while at a Love's.

    Most companies only allow a $50 cash advance at each fuel stop. When I was first starting out with Indian River Transport, I would grab two advances for $100. But then I would quite mindful of my spending.

    A cash advance will only set you back about $2.50 or so. As long as you use an advance wisely and sparingly, you will survive.

    Perhaps friends or family could aid you with a micro loan. Pawning something of value that you won't need for a while may also be an option.
