Umm.. that happens more than most know. Officer has a rough morning and is expecting another confrontational contact. Person stays calm, everybody wins.
Dash cam may have helped, but the driver not being an a##hat was key.

Did you watch the video the dash cam is the only reason the cop changed his mood.
-
Police officers that behave like that are the exception rather than the rule.
-
If they are the exception rather than the rule why do we see this so often? Cameras are an attitude adjuster and a savior. I have 3 on board, in immediate sight. I'd be the first to admit if I made an error, but I'm not going to be talked down to or disrespected.
-
I try to always keep a good attitude with DOT officers. Sometimes it's hard though when they act so tough. I know they expect confrontation, but wish they could calm down a bit if they don't get it.
I have thanked two DOT officers and they both had wrote me up. I didn't thank them because I was so glad for a ticket, I did because they were professional about their job and friendly. Some refuse to even answer questions. How do I know when they wont even tell me? -
HullD, no. The mandate became fully mandatory in December and requires roadside transfer. You will be cited for 395.24(d).
I posted extensively about this in the eld forum.Gearjammin' Penguin, brian991219 and Hulld Thank this. -
Mid May, I get it. To be honest, I don’t mind teaching. Level 1s take about 70 minutes by the time the report is entered Andy printed. I don’t like keeping Driver’s off the road that long. If a driver gives me the required paperwork and logs and doesn’t have a POS truck, I try to get it done in 45 min. My comment about carriers educating their drivers was to save them time on the roadside.deathB4decaf, Gearjammin' Penguin, brian991219 and 3 others Thank this.

@MidwestGator I for one appreciate what you guys do. I couldn't imagine how many more junky trucks would be out here on the road if we didn't have you guys. I certainly know you all are far outnumbered by the trucks to officers ratio so you cant catch them all...
I take care of my truck and dont feel sorry for anyone who doesn't when they finally get caught...
Keep up the good work!!!Last edited: Feb 1, 2020

So you are saying my stand alone VDO roadlog ELD that transfers data in inspection mode at the road side by printing the data on paper to hand to the officer is non compliant?
-
And what would you reply be to a driver who told you at the end of the inspection his/her 14 hour clock had expired while in the inspection bay?D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
