$15 an hour isn't the highest pay, but with free benefits? That would be hard to give up.
Rocknroller4 Thanks this. -
You could probably gross more than you currently are at Schneider, but you would be working far more hours, and never seeing your family. And it wouldn't be that much more net, given the free benefits that you currently have.

Well, I am single no kids so not worried about home time really.. As a custodian right now I work swing shifts M-F but the weekends fly by, tired of cleaning toilets.. nice to have the free health and dental but I dunno.. it's a government job so has a good retirement but I'm just not happy with what I am doing. Have had this CDL and keep thinking about it.. I also wanted to do it to see other states to get an idea of where I'd like to put roots down before I turn 40 in three years.Last edited: Feb 2, 2020

Idk man. Trucking has gone in the toilet since I've been driving and I'm not even 30 yet. I've been driving since 2015!LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

Confused what you mean. Currently at Schneider? I haven't even started yet just trying to make the decision what to do. I make about 15.30 an hour what I do now and there is always plenty of overtime because they are short staffed and need those toilets cleaned and tables set up. I don't officially have the job yet as I have to take a physical to lift 100lbs to get the job. I've been going through a work agency contracted. Why I am considering going with SNI just to get that 6 months and move into something better with my TWIC which I do have or maybe haul tanker at SNI.LtlAnonymous Thanks this.

I meant that what you're making now as a janitor? You'd probably gross more than that at Schneider. But the net probably wouldn't be much more because of insurance. It helps that you're single with no kids, but still.
I'd take a government job over Schneider any day of the week. But if you're burned out, you're burned out.Rocknroller4 Thanks this. -
You're probably right..after insurance, truck stop food, whatever else.. I'm sure it wouldn't really be worth it in the long run. I dunno. I've heard people have made more at Western Express and vice versa at SNI or Swift.LtlAnonymous Thanks this.
