Which Option Is Better, Mega Or Car Haul?

I vote car hauling. Screw not having experience, you will learn more in your first month of driving than anything. Just take things that much slower and ask that many more questions. I would bet the worst car hauler company is still better than the top mega.

Actually I think most of the company guys sleep in hotels. We have two big companies down here. One uses day cabs and the other uses small sleepers. I see both companies parked at hotels more often than anything. And I'm talking Hilton and Marriot type of hotels.

 

Looked like one of the best starter companies to me or even long term but they are currently not hiring inexperienced drivers.

 

Who is the outfit that hires newbies for car hauling?

 

It may look cool but when I see the rear of a loaded trailer hit a humpty dump, it looks like those rear cars are going to be flung a mile or two.

 

If you can get on hauling cars even w a cheaper outfit do it.
It is a skill that not many folks have.
A limited field that will pay well as you gain experience and reputation for claim free trips.
After a few years you can move on to union work, independent or cross country specialized.
You will always have that skill to fall back on and mega work is always going to be available.
Plus working w dealers and auto auction you will run across the occasional opportunity for a smoking hot deal on a vehicle.

 

Is this still the case how does a driver get a start if no one is willing to give an inexperienced driver a start

Yeah its tough, been looking for a while now..I wouldnt want to be used for 2-3 months team driving/training while getting paid 30cents or less at one of the big companies. Few local places here might hire but going into NYC and unloading your own truck doesnt sound like fun either.

 

If you wanna haul cars and can find a place to hire/ train you the way they want in regards to car hauling skip the round about bs and go haul cars. No point hauling ice cream if you don’t want to right?
