DPF "melted" inside

i went to peterbilt this morning and was told that the inside "might" be melted. monday they will pull the DPF and put in a new one to see if the truck will regen properly. Cummins engineers connected to the truck remotely and said that all the sensors are responding to feedback and commands.
a few things i learned today. take them with a grain of salt;
1. a $650 filter cleaning started all this chaos. a new filter costs $1100 with a good core exchange. after all this BS, that cleaning will cost me nearly $4k.
2. my warranty on after treatment is complete SH@T!. they wanted oil change reports, oil sample reports, receipts for any oil additive added, fueling receipts, the list goes on. just seems like they dont want to pay.

Op I would be checking the doser and make sure it's not leaking/dripping when Regen is not needed or maybe it's dosing too much fuel when regening. This extra fuel could cause a meltdown.

I had my DPF cleaned last week and went roughly 100 miles when the regen required light came on. i was going through small towns so i figured i wasnt going fast enough long enough to regen. i pulled over and did a parked regen. it went for about 30 minutes and the lights went off. continuing down the road and onto the interstate no issues until the next morning after my delivery. regen light came back on but wouldnt do a parked regen. took it to peterbilt. they tried a regen and it wouldnt take. the error was "back pressure over recommended limits". peterbilt couldnt figure it out but said they think it was the sensor. they couldnt get to it but 2 techs said i could make it home with no issues. drove 4 hours. about 30 minutes from the local dealership, a message comes up saying "engine derate in 3 hours". today i got a call saying the filter was melted inside and couldnt be cored so i would have to buy a new one. ive asked around and called a dealership in another city and they said its possible that someone messed up during the dpf cleaning. Ive had one of the guys at the local dealership give me crap because i got the dpf cleaning. the gm said the guy was upset because he thinks im blaming them. has anyone had this happen or know why it might happen? i dont want to buy a $4000 filter just to have it happen again.

meltdown also happens after overnight idling. I don't know about Cummins but Detroit has Autoelevate feature in ecu to avoid dpf meltdowns after long idling .

Paccar has same thing, call it HC desorb. Can be automatic or manually controlled. Oil soaking of DPF can also cause meltdown.
