    ? My electric fans were mounted behind the radiator just like the original horton fan. I think the difference was the original mechanical farm only came on when the ac system sensors detected it was hot, vs how I turned the two electric ones on immediately upon turning the ac on, so the ac system never got hot.

    The fan only works when high pressure gets high enough. That generally don't happen as long as the vehicle is moving down the road fast enough.

    Right, the system checks pressure not temperature. Tho in effect it's the same thing, they both equally rise. However I will disagree with you on it generally doesn't happen. Get an ecm dump and you will be shocked to see how much fan on time is caused by the ac system.

    Thats why i said dedicated to the ac only when I mentioned the roof mounts.
    I was picturing your setup as having only two of them working mainly with the ac kicking on with its demand while the other 2 handled most of the engine demand so they were moving most of the hottest air all the time keeping the ac system cooler. Sounds like thats kinda how you had it.

    Pretty much. I fabbed up a new shroud and mounting brackets for the fans mounted directly to the radiator frame. Picture a square with a fan in each quadrant. The bottom two wired to one toggle that I flipped on when I turned the ac or defrosters on, the top two to a separate toggle that I'd flip on when coolant temp hit 190 or when approaching a hill. I'm sure you could wire it in to the truck to be automatic like a regular fan, but that's beyond this rednecks know how.

    Neat! He’s got 2 big ones. 14” or 16” not sure. Staggered. One on top left the other bottom right. Somehow thermostatically controlled to kick on at certain temps automatically just like all the new aged cars do. He experimented for a year with different settings till he got it dialed in. He’s got a “secret formula” but I think the secret is one kicks on 5 or so or maybe even 10 degrees before you actually need it so it keeps the temp from rising to fast to where it would be harder to control. He also put manual toggle on them to control if needed at different times and has one kick on if idleing in stop and go or slow traffic. It’s Pretty hands and worry free I guess.

    I wouldn't be shocked by an ecm dump.

    There's 4 reasons for the fan to work while driving down the road.
    Radiator temp.
    Too hot outside for ac evaporator.
    Ac Overcharged.
    Faulty sensors.

    Is the system is charged and working properly and it's over roughly 90*. The fan will occasionally come on.

    If the system is overcharged and it's only 75*. The fan could stay on the whole time. Provided it's not overcharged to the point of compressor shut down.
