Ooops I have logged the 34 in the sleeper nearly everytime. However the only time I wasn't in the sleeper was when I went in for a quick shower or to go to the bathroom. I see your points on why not to log it all straight, and I guess so far I have been lucky that DOT has cut me some slack.

I usually mark it off duty with a comment that I did a 34 hour restart in whatever city I did it unless I'm doing hometime. That way if DOT inspects my logs he/she knows what I did

Here is what a lawyer will do in a court room if you are involved in a wreck that a 4 wheeler caused. Driver what happened? Car came into my lane. Lawyer. I have your last 6 months logs. You under oath on your log stated you were in the sleeper for nearly 2 days??? You did not use the rest room, eat or ever get out of the sleeper??? Well: I just proved your testimony can not be trusted. How do we know the car came into your lane?

I have never been questioned on logging straight line 2 on any reset.
To be fearful of DOT thinking Im going to log every time I move from the sleeper(unless to on-duty status) is absurd,34 straight in one place on one line! Means the truck never "MOVED"
I can just see some dim-wit flagging sleeper to the crapper LMAO !

No worse than some dim wit showing 2 days in the sleeper....

Play grab ### with the wrong waitress, you gonna need more than 34 hours to recover from the broken jaw she gonna give ya!

I show line 1 and 2 for a restart. Showing all line 2 is just setting yourself up for trouble if something ever happens and you have to show in court that you are a reliable record keeper. Lawyers love truckers that make it easy for them too cash in on truckers. Why help them????
-
To save me some work, can someone tell me if this is covered in the FMCSR book? I would think that as long as you are relieved of duty regarding anything that has to do with the truck for a reset, either line 1 OR 2 will be sufficient.
-
How much work is it to show 10 sleeper or whatever time 8 etc and the rest line 1? I don't know of a link to show how to log it, but I do know that if you show all of line 2 you are baiting yourself if you get in a accident and a lawyer is trying to prove your testimony can not be trusted. He can prove to a jury you can not be relied on because you stated on a federal document that you stayed in the sleeper for 34 hours straight. Cha ching you just gave the $ million lawsuit away as you are proven to be falsifying your log and that 4 wheeler that caused the pile up cashes in because it was to hard to show on paper that you came out of the sleeper on your reset....

Cashing in on big trucks is a booming business. Lawyers love truckers that make it easy for them. We live in a society where if you spill hot coffee on yourself it is mickey D's fault. The fault of the company that made the cup. The guy that designed the drive up etc... Why not try to cover yourself and help build a strong case against some money hungry lawyer that wants everything you own and don't own?
Panhandle flash Thanks this.
