    Most companies will want to give you a road test to see how you drive before hiring you, in that case, an auto shift only company would not be a good choice for someone figuring on moving to a higher paying company that wouldn't have auto shift trucks available.

    I wouldn't want to bet on widespread adoption of auto shift, they still have problems and they aren't well suited to all trucking, especially the 2 pedal ones.

    Shifting isn't that hard, but be prepared to drive a straight 10 without screwing that up, that is the most likely trans to be in a truck from any company other than the ones that use auto shift exclusively. It doesn't hurt to know your way around a 9 speed, either, ignore the splitter on a 13 or 18 and it's the same pattern.

    i could see were your comen from with this one......i wouldnt recomend an auto either if you have not had recent stick with at least a 10 speed.

    1) No BMI index, that I know of. I'm a fat SOB and I am here and kicking ### on miles here in the last few weeks. Coming off my 34 restart (second week in a row) and looking to go long over the weekend again. And my fat ### can handle it no prob.

    2) The reefer's are 53'. I have run across a couple with LISA that are 48', but only seen a couple and they were older. You do get training on them. It's not that hard. They only look complicated. It's really a P.H.D. operation. (P.H.D.= Push Here Dummy)

    FFE has been pretty good to me, but I was a 12 year driver. I don't know much about their training.

    I've been here at FFE for about 3 weeks now. I have to say it's half ### ok. They have a lot more company rules to play by than I'm used to. Normally companies could give a #### about what you wear and piercings but they do here. I've had them on my ### a couple times about it. Log's books, no loose leaf here and better log it like you do it. They don't allow all those neat tricks like logging by speed and #### like that. I'm afraid to turn my log's in. I think when I do it's going to be my ### because dispatch wants you to do some crazy ### things that you can't do legally. I'm here at the yard for my 34 hour restart. Miles haven't been to great either. most of my time has gone into sitting at docks and truck stops waiting on a load swap to show up.
    It's got to get better. I haven't seen a check yet but I'm begining to think I have made a mistake with the trip sheets. It's a lot of #### trying to be crammed into one's head in two and a half days.

    As the driving instructor said the company is all 10 speeds. Most are FL centurys but have some volvos, internationals and one FL cascadia that I know of so far which I just saw leaving this morning. I guess it's just a gamble for everyone. No amount of information being told can amount your success at any given company. It's all in personal prefrence.

    I can go by experience Skunk, if you have any doubts on pay at least send payroll a QC message immediately. I found out 2 days ago that the FFE side of paperwork has to be turned in before noon monday to be on thursdays payroll, it used to be tuesday.

    Also I am not sure how long you're staying out, but I have found that when I stay out for 5-6 weeks rather than just the 3 minimum my miles usually do somewhat better. I'm not going to standup and say FFE is the cream of the crop, but I think it's as good as any rookie driver can expect. I also believe that some of the junk with FFE is widespread across the industry and only going to get worse.

    You misunderstand. Your statement implies the only reason one does his/her particular job is to make money.
    That is not always the case. There are many reason besides money that a person would choose a specific type of job.

    Now this isnt really what this post is about, so i for one will let em talk about FFE equipment.

    $.02 for Skunk: Hang in there. It takes a couple months to get "flowing" and really get into a groove. I called my recruiter a couple times to tell her if I wanted to sit around I could do that at home and stay on unemployment. I been here since May and in 17 days this trip I am a little over 8500 paid miles, with 2 34 hr. restarts. I still creatively log (but just got the talking to about 2 logs in the yard Friday) you just need to know how to do it. For some reason I am always well rested after sitting at a dock and have plenty of hours available. :biggrin_25525:

    I have yet to get called on my creative logging Biscuit, do I need to give you a course in acceptable FFE lies?

    Lesson #1) Don't get caught logging in eastern time zone. I was one hour off on logging a fuel stop. Go figure. Other one was .25 hours short of a 10 hr. break. Ooops.

    ooh ok those aren't lies those are simple mistakes haha. man I am gonna be tired as hell these next few nights. I am unloading at McClane in Lubbock, then rolling to Cactus, TX to pick up a load going to Monroe township in NJ. about 1800 miles and 3 days to run it in, got to run at night to make it on time.....I HATE night running
