Truck came in with engine protect coming on. 07 Freightliner with c-15 mxs. Only codes in ecm were active 290-5 and inactive 290-7. 290-5 had 255 occurrences recently. Performed valve test and all were good except for #6. Removed valve cover and inspected wiring. Found no faults in wiring from ecm to valve. Assumed valve is bad and replaced with new. Cleared codes and drove truck, got back to yard and 290-5 code is already active. Any suggestions on were to go from here?

290-5 is open circuit on #6 intake valve actuator, since you already replaced the actuator, and all other wiring seems to be fine, I would replace the plug end that goes into the actuator, they have a lot of issue from the heat and oil they see. Cat repair kit for the plug is part# 366-9748.
