I'm about to officially decide where to get my CDL and then who to work for coming up really soon. My current plan is to work with Schneider as they pay for you to get your CDL but of course, lock you into a 9-month contract. Breaking the contract is 2k but my roommate went to Roadmasters and they charged him almost 8k! The 2k doesn't seem so bad compared to that. Schneider doesn't pay the best (or does any mega carrier) but I just want something that is simple and will get me my first year of experience. If anyone has any other recommendations that I shouldn't overlook please let me know! Thanks so much.

9 months is not that long. And the Great Pumpkin has several types of trucking, in case you want to switch. Its a big company and has big company problems. But prolly a good starting point

9 month contract for a free license is a good gig, jump on it.

    Schneider veteran here...

Depending on where you live--you might well be able to do better than ol' "Big Orange".

Tell us what city/state is the closest for you--& we might be able to suggest better.

Just remember that any rookie mistakes will be held against you…so much so that you may have to be stuck there for years.
Screw up enough and you’ll be booted from the truck possibly 1,000’s of miles from home..

Good luck, save enough for a bus ride home :)

    Didn't see any 'facts'.
Do enlighten us to how bad you have to screw up for Schneider to "boot you off the truck 1000 miles away from home".
I'll bet real money this is interesting.

Get the CDL, put time in and move on.
