I am a small shipper with a box truck shipping mostly bikes and household goods. I drove the my truck about 1.5 hrs on Wednesday. I parked it and went in the house and shortly after it was in flames. Has anyone else ever had a fire in an international dt466e? It appears to have started in the cab dash area.Around the meritor box. I've read an article on 2007's catching on fire but nothing in 2001. And does anyone know of parts, wiring harness's,cabs etc. I need to get it back on the road asap. I feel like someone ripped my heart out. Hopefully when the repairs start the anxiety will go away and the xanax the doc gave me.
Any tips or knowledge will greatly be appreciated Thanks Shad :msad:

Alot of vehicle fires are the result of electrical wiring or overloaded plugs.

At the fire scenes we try to find where it orginated. It is not always possible due to the amount of damage.

The first link is to another set of posts on this board.. not 2001 trucks, but Internationals other than 2007

The second link is to - surprise - NHTSA. It's not about any one product, but does provide contact and search info for the NHTSA site. With a little luck, there was a recall and you'd be covered. If not, you could at least file a report, I think - though you should have the official fire report (insurance agent should have it) when you do.

A quick perusal of the net doesn't show anything endemic to your year/model, but NHTSA will certainly know.
