hello everyone, I'm looking for some advice on my Peterbilt. It's a 2001 379. I'm having a problem with the blowers in the cab and bunk. 1st problem is my cab comes on but only in the highest setting which is 4. 1,2&3 doesnt blow anything at all. My 2nd problem is I have no activity from the bunk blower. No lights light up on any of the dials nor does it blow at all on any setting. Any advice before I take it to the Stealership would be greatly appreciated. Safe travels

    Check fuses.

Get to the air ducts from the blower to your vents. Take a look see about those dust bunnies that grow and clog everything.

    Check fuses again.

Have a shop work on that rig. I would not go anywhere without being completely happy that you can get heat or air condioning from those blowers.

The cab is probably the blower resistor. The sleeper,do you have the front switch for the sleeper on?

Yessir I have the bunk button that's on the cab panel up front switched on, still nothing. Also I changed the resistor in the can and it still does nothing but blow on setting number 4

Pretty sure there is a resistor that controls motor speed. If that is not it I would be thinking blower motor. As far as the bunk is concerned. Get a simple test light at Harbor Freight and check to see if you have power back there. There should be a fuse panel under the mattress. It does not hurt to pull the fuses 1 at a time to improve the contact. They do get funky over time. Would not hurt to spray penetrating oil on the contacts as you do this. It is a pretty basic job and I would not be giving up $100+/hr. to the dealer to do what you describe. No time like the present to start learning.

Thanks for the advice. I'm thinking it's the blower motor as well, that'll be a project I tackle this coming week being as though I will be off from the 7th-9th. As for the fuses in the bunk area, could Yu tell me exactly where they are located? I thought I only had the ones down by my clutch pedal

Use a test light to ck and see if you have power in and out of the dash switch that controls the bunk.

I know on a 70" bunk when you pick up the bed they to the right. Can not remember on the 60". Pull the control panel in the sleeper and see if you have power there. Could be the light bulbs are burned out. Is this something that just happened? Has it been working?

It's a 63' sleeper so no the bed doesn't pick up. Also no it has never worked. I've only been diving for 2 months, and it came with a bunk heater so I never had to use it. Went to use it the other day and nothing came on

Start with switch on the dash. If you have power in and power out move on to the sleeper. Hope you do not have as much stuff under there as I do. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure your sleeper has a separate fuse panel.
