I am trying to replace the flex pipe in my Volvo 780. When I went to replace it yesterday I discovered that the current installation is messed up. The DPF end of the flex pipe is 1 to 1 and a 1/2 inches higher than the Turbo end of the flex pipe. It is impossible to get the clamp off of the Turbo end of the flex pipe to remove it. Turbo nd of the flex pipe is Tight against the frame rail
The current flex pipe is leaking between the flange and the metal mesh On the Turbo side . Is not leaking from the joint.
Any ideas?

Ahhh the evil million dollar flex pipe
If you loosen all clamps from the turbo back you should be able to rotate everything as needed so it slips out.
Those are a pain in the ###. Its always a lot of trial and error getting the correct fitment whenever I have to change mine out. Bloody knuckles and goose eggs on the noggin. Eventually it'll go!
Also, some Volvo dealers will sell an aftermarket kit for that pipe that includes new clamps and gaskets, at a fraction of the price of OEM pipe alone.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
That's exactly what I had done. I had purchased the kit with the flex pipe two clamps and two gaskets. But I never got a chance to install them because of the way it is sitting!

That connection point should never touch the frame. You most likely will need to replace both pipes in between dpf filter housing and turbo diffuser pipe (solid steel pipe after the turbo 7th injector mounts on it). That pipe right after 7 injector doesn’t look oem it also has insulation inside of it when it cracks it will plug up your doc filter. -
What year is the truck??
