I would be careful with a truck built in that timeframe. The 2012 models have lots of problems with emissions. I would be weary of lots of amber lights and derating problems.

It's worth it if you're willing to invest another 30-40k in rebuilding the engine, transmission, and rear ends.

I seen some guy with a 1mil cacadia before it was a 2009. He redid the head at one point. Still going strong. I would worry at those miles if its not your truck. Its a ticking time bomb. For 20k i would look somewhere else. Maybe get a older truck.

Do you need a CARB legal truck? If so, and assuming it is currently sound (no warning lights or driveability issues, easily passes DOT inspection, etc), I would gamble on it. Even if it lasts 6 months, you can scrap it for at least 10k and will have more than made the other 10k. And it could go a few more years before needing anything major.
I would not plan on rebuilding or reconditioning anything. Sure, you could spend $40k and get a rebuilt drivetrain, but then you'll need to spend another 5k for suspension and another $5k for all the underhood stuff not replaced during a rebuild (radiator, condenser, oil cooler, hoses, water pump, fan clutch, power steering pump, air compressor, ac compressor, etc). And now you've got $70k into a 2012 Cascadia with 1 million+ miles on the body, interior, electrical. Trust me, I've gone down that road with my truck and you wind up with a large asset with irritating little issues that is worth almost nothing to anybody else.
Unless YOU are going to rebuild everything yourself, old trucks should be treated like not-fully smoked cigar butts -- smoke whatever is left and then discard it. -
I put 1.2 mil on my last DD15. It did well with NO major work on it. But it was time to let it go. DD15 is a good motor. It's all the other stuff you might need to worry about.

BTW I traded it in for $25k back in December with 1.2. A four year old truck with a mil was run hard. Most likely comes from a Mega and was never taken care of as it has only seen co drivers. Something to keep in mind.

That's what I did with my 96 Volvo and then the frame cracked about 3 feet long at the flange over the drive axles. So now I'm trying again with a 95 W900L. I must not be very smart lol.
