    Hey

    I have a 2017 freightliner with 2 pedal eaton auto, I think it's a smart shift. With a detroit DD15

The truck won't go up gears after it has downshifted, the best example is when you are pulling a hill, you hit the hill in top gear at top speed, as you are pulling the hill the truck will down shift normally, but when it's time to upshift again it comes up with no datalink and sometimes will have an F on the transmission, sometimes you have to pull over and kill the batteries to get it to go again.

I am thinking it's a speed sensor, XY shifter or the harness, just wondering what I should try first / look out for etc.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

You need to get hooked up and get a report of faults logged. Anything less is just guessing. Even from there diagnostics will likely be needed to determine the root cause of the failure.

Did you ever figure out the issue? I have something similar happening. Not to the point of having to kill the engine yet though. No fault codes logged.

I changed the XY shifter, reckon it was probably one of the sensors on the XY shifter, but rather then changing the sensors and guessing etc, I just changed the whole unit, mine seemed original, so with 800k miles on it I just thought it was worth replacing. My mechnis said they dont last forever and do wear out

Thanks. Did it give a fault code or did your mechanic just recognize that as the issue?
