Long story short, I started out years ago driving truck in LA about 30 years ago. Joined the Army and became a Motor Sergeant. After being retired for 8 years I decided I was too young to stop working, and daughter decided that she wants to be a doctor. All sorts of new stuff on trucks now. Apparently there is a Clean Idle system or Run Smart system on this Freightshaker. I’ve heard that I don’t have to leave the truck running when using stuff like AC and small appliances (Laptop). So far I have only been able to figure out how to keep the truck from shutting itself off automatically after 5 minutes. Penske’s oil-changer said that the inverter must have been replaced and the auto start feature wasn’t rewired back in. Hmm, OK. I was born at night, but not just LAST night. Can anyone tell me how to use the auto start feature so I don’t kill the batteries? Owners manual is useless and vague.

The Manuel being vague and Freightliner being deceptive have already been established. Penske is just as bad. To go along with this, I replaced a driver who trashed the truck. Tools were bouncing around in the luggage bin where the inverter is. Tools placed on top of or near the inverter were turning the power switch off or slamming the inverter which shut it off for safety. So, I finally got the house plugs working. As you said, Freightliner doesn’t say anything about which setting the inverter has to be on to send power to the outlets. Penske only says that the new inverter wasn’t wired right and it’s not a DOT required repair. Regardless, the question is still relevant. IF the truck is equipped with such features as advertised on the truck body/owners Manuel, how do you initiate the battery run-down auto start to know if it has the feature with out killing the batts and being stranded/pay for a service call?
