If you have a Haz-Mat and Tanker I’d personally shoot for hauling crude oil with a company that buys the oil they haul. You can probably run more outlaw at outfits known as third party and really work but your going to potentially give up benefits. No one knows how long this current boom will last, but if your only looking to stay for the $$$ I don’t see being out here for a 12-24 months of steady work as unreasonable. Depending on you how schedule your days off with your a employer and working days or nights I don’t see earning 95k-110k year unreasonable in the current market.
And alternative to hauling crude is hauling water. Annually you’ll probably make more 130k+, but you will work over 70 hrs 7 days a week with most outfits.
My 2 cents on oil field tanker jobs.

The unofficial mastcot of Midland/Odessa is the travel trailer.
Most parks have spots available. Last I looked into it $500/month all bills paid is about average.
Lots of mom and pop parks too. Usually more privacy less drama.

I heard the FM Radio playing ads for a job fair in Carlsbad NM .. I’m working the Odessa Midland area and don’t know how Carlsbad is but it was jobfair dot com.....or something close to that...... I would look into that if I were looking to the oilfield for work.......

Find a company that lets you stay in the truck. That way you can just work, sleep, work, sleep
I’m seeing lines at the water disposals in North Dakota. Crude trucks everywhere.
Get it while it’s good

I don't understand why people will live in a high COL area that has nothing to offer, and working insane hours in near desert conditions for the same pay as a local company driver living in the northeast US.SOAthor Thanks this.
-
Some people like it out there and would say the same thing about the northeast. "There's nothing out there" about the northeast is a true response from some people. I'm of that thought myself and I know of many others who feel similar. It's all good. Different strokes for different folks.Rodeorowdy, stillwurkin, Crude Truckin' and 1 other person Thank this.

I worked in the wind industry during the boom years, and earned close to $3k/week working similar hours in similar conditions, with MUCH less responsibility and risk. You oilfield drivers need to hold out for better pay, IMO.SOAthor and MagnumaMoose Thank this.

Just out of curiosity, where would an experienced driver go looking for a local job that pays that much?
-
PA, NY, NJ, CT for starters.
Last year as a company driver, I earned $92K on a W2. Monday-Friday, day shift, non union, layover on Thursday night by choice, paid hotel and meal allowance. Paid holidays and vacation, full benefits.
I bought a truck and trailer, quit and am running under my own authority now.Mitchmmd, Brettj3876 and bbq247365 Thank this.
