I had a rtlo22918 behind my 1lw cat and it had the regular input shaft. I also have heard there is no difference on the 1800 series and up. The part# s are all the same for everything inside. This is from a few diffrent gear people. The only diffrences being the oiling system. The bigger rating transmisions had a halo system that spayed oil over the top of the gears for better cooling and also a cooler from the factory installed.

yep forgot about the halo have that on my 18918 works great when you loose your trans grease and only have a pint left in it saved my trans from burning up. and yes i do check my grease levels but when a fast leak starts it dont take long!

I also heard that its literally the only difference between the 1850 and 2050 rated 18spds

Its not actually a bigger input shaft, it is a 2" 14 spline shaft instead of 2" 10 spline, if you plan on building power you might as well go with a 20 series. You will not find any where that sells an upgraded clutch that works with the 14 spline shaft. A 20 series will take anything you want to throw at it if you dont abuse it. IIRC Mr haney only runs a 20918.

Call Lipe clutch They told me how to switch a 14 to 10 and not have to put a overpriced clutch in.

If this is the case then why not just run the 18918B... it's the same as the twenty and as far as clutches go it's better than the 22 ? what am I missing ?
I'm at 140K day in and out with super B's and tried to make heads or tails of this last year when replacing my tranny. I just went with the 18918B and a 2050 easy pedal. No problems so far.

Yes the input shaft can be changed, but I seriously doubt anyone will hurt a 18 or 20 series 18spd, I think that when they offered the 22 the input shaft was another thing just to set them apart. Clutch wise a 2050 and a 2250 easy pedal carry the same plate load, no difference besides the input shaft and cost.

I think some people just want to say they are running a 2200ft-lbs tranny. There isnt an actually need for it. Think about when the KTA600s were on the road, alot of them were 1650ft-lbs and left the factory with rto12513s behind them and they lived for a long time.
