So I went through ACE 2. I knew I was OK as I set a business plan and stuck to it. the truth came out in class. in 68 months of leasing I had a fuel const of .09. I drive 62 or there about. I have a saying on my truck Buy it right, Budget Right, Burn it right. my MPG for those 68 weeks was 7.26.
ACE 2 revealed that I budget right I buy it right and at current habits I burn it OK. I am profitable and in my goal but The challenge was laid down to try 30 days at a lower RPM. I will chronicle my results here.
DAY 1
I slowed to 52 MPH. today (monday 4pm till today) my current mileage is 8.04 with the healthy climb on I24. in 530 miles I came out at 8.04 that is over a 10% increase we'll see how the rest of the month pans out. for me every 1% based on last years fuel purchases is 1800 bucks.
at this point (only 1 day) i am looking to day 2

So is your time less valuable than you fuel cost, 52 mph seems really slow...I bet you could save lots of money if you got horse drawn wagon..
perufb Thanks this. -
When it comes to fuel and costs, unfortunately, they are inseparable.
I can see country wide 55mph speed limits come back into vogue. -
at the end of 30 days I might be able to answer that.

You'll do good Gator... when I'm rollin' along at 52 (and keepin' the highways clogged real good) I can be right up in the 8's. Unfortunately, I decided to deliver a day early this week (+$1600 on last week's settlement... hard to argue with) and last night's little "save some jerk FM's tookus load" ain't gonna get me up there this week.

Prime trucks are a mess they should get a ticket for doing 55 in a 75. Not only does traffic get a mess but if someone isn't watching right in back of u they go. Wanna save money don't lease the truck from a company
-
It's incumbent under the law for a faster vehicle to deal with traffic moving slower than them.

I like Prime trucks. They are the only ones I can pass. Honestly though, I am getting tired of driving 62 at the company I am with. Tired of feeling like I am in the way all day. I know saving fuel is important. But the extra 25 miles a day I could get running just a touch faster would get me home before I ran out of hours or get an extra load or 3 a month. I have seen some guys drive 60 to save fuel, then idle the truck all night in beautiful sleeping weather. Go figure.

It's nuts what some folks do, then just blow it away idling. As the price of fuel goes up, rates are not necessarily matching the increase. That 62 mpg gig may be the one that's around after the wide-open guys have bankrupted their employers. Prime went onto the fuel-savings jag early in the '08 - '09 fuel price spike, and has been doing very well since.
