What do you mean by "which state to be"?

 

Work, don't sit on you arse wating for the perfect load. Don't over analyze every load, time you do it will be gone,
Run where you want when you want don't work. You run where the money is when the load is there,
Don't book loads a week ahead, the good loads come in the same day they move,

 

Not trying to sound like a dick here, but weren't you paying attention to where the freight was moving when you worked for Schneider? If so you would know that there are areas that are always hard to find freight in and there are others where it comes and goes. I wouldn't expect anyone to be giving up their contacts to you. It's going to be tough going...for a while. At first you're going to have to pick up the scraps off the board. You will need to start building relationships with agents. If you're still working mostly off the board in six or eight months, assuming you last that long, then you're doing it wrong. Some guys will say they can make it off board loads only but the initial questions you ask don't lead me to believe that you're one of those guys. Most important thing to do is not look at the board, instead you need to study it....look for trends, patterns, history. Nobody is going to hold your hand at Landstar. You have to be self reliant and assertive about what you are doing or you're going to get run over by those who have those traits. Good luck.
