Put 25psi of air to the injector cup, to see if there was any leaks at valves or rings. No leaks I could see, hear or feel. Injectors tested good but swapped them when I reinstalled. Reran OH but left the jakes off and plugged rocker box oil supply. Started truck, no smoke on 1 or 2. It did however, smoke more at 5. Tore the top off 5 and 6, removed jake, plugged oil supply and ran OH on 5. Started truck and 5 kinda cleared up.

When you rebuilt it how did the injector lobes look on the camshaft? If the hard surfacing is coming off the #1 injector lobe the engine will miss and white smoke on that cylinder
-
Cam was spotless. I had it out because of timing change.

I think the truck needs to be taken out, have the dog #### ran out of it, then rerun the OH. That said, ya’ll know alot more than me.
W923 Thanks this. -
You could be right. I rebuilt a lot of them. I used to take them for a drive up a long steep hill and lug them down. Never had a problem with rings not seating. How many hours since the rebuild? What did you time it at?
-
Engine is timed at .035 for cpl 160.

Been gone. No, low compression doesn't necessarily mean anything with a piston or rings. Could be timing, valve train issues, etc. That's why I asked about adjustment. A simple valve adjustment/jake adjustment/push tube etc, can cause low compression.
Looks like you figured it outmile marker 27 Thanks this.
