So my new to me 05 379 tilt steering isnt working.
It will telescope fine but cant get it to tilt
Took the covers off and moved the lever. It seems to push against the latch but wont allow it to tilt.
Any ideas?

I'll try but nothing looks corroded inside. Even tried freeing it with a screw driver incase the lever mechanism was worn but did nothing. It will move slightly but wont unlock and let it tilt or be pushed back up.
The telescopic part works fine.
May have to take it apart and see, just hope I can put it back together -
ok sorry to revive this thread a few weeks later but I finally got to look at the column a little more.
The item circles in orange is the til mechanism the red is a pin of some sort that I cant remove.
Anyone changed this piece before, is it possible?
How would I get the pin out to look more closely at it as it seems to not unlock even when pushing the latch manually

Old thread. I apologize figured it be better than making a new.
Anyhow I'm having the same issue here as OP. The small cylinder Itself seems stuck and wont budge even with help. Figure I'd ask If anyone had an Idea. Before I go out and buy a used column.
