You explained it well, I know a lot more now than I did before. So that 1/16 you wouldn't even really feel the trailer move at all then when accelerating or braking correct?

Thats right... If U feel the trailer move on the 5th wheel when accelerating and decelerating either 5th wheel jaws are out of adjustment or kingpin on trailer is wore out... The problem U had prior to rebuilding if there was a lot of adjustment left on the rod can also be corrosion on the forks that lock the jaws... Have fixed that problem before with some fluid film.

Your boss is an ### hat.
The tow bill alone for a lost trailer will be much higher than several new 5th wheels.
Then their is the clean up, lost product, damaged equipment, and Oh my god that school bus that hit the run away trailer on the national news ever night for weeks.
Point is your boss could give a rats back side if you lose your way to make a living and be come a national villain.
Find a new boss who is not an ### hat. -
You're absolutely correct about my boss, he literally buys himself a new pickup every year, has four new ones in his garage right now@ $50,000 a piece, two of which are diesels, and yet we have to run substandard equipment that never gets fixed and then when we cant get our loads because every truck is broke down, we get blamed for that too!
