I read that in a thread about carrying weapons in a truck and I'm assuming it's another unfounded rumor.

I've carried a 6 D cell Maglight in the truck for over 10 years, it sits between the drivers seat and the door.

Through I don't know how many inspections or pullovers I've never had a LEO say a word about it. Not that I'm worried about it now but I'm curious if anyone believes this or even better can prove it.

Well I have a Stinger rechargeable and it weighs more than a 6 cell and was never busted with it and many a DOT has seen it, they thought it was a great light.

A good weapon that is legal is your fire extinguisher, just saying.

I've had a few of them, they make a dandy club, but I have found that only Duracell batteries are sturdy enough to stand up to the jostling you get just from handling it.

I have other blunt insttruments not so easily damaged.

Don't get the fire extinguisher discharge in your eyes if you wear contact lenses, it could cause damage to your corneas. I got it a couple of times, and I can no longer wear them. Not saying it was for sure from that but it isn't a good thing to have happen.

A LEO can call almost anything a weapon.
Many years ago I threw a strawberry at a car racing down the street in our neighborhood. (lots of little kids around). A police officer saw it, stopped the car, but later came to me and told me I was guilty of assault with a deadly weapon.
    Strawberries?
He said, "anything that can be used aggressively can be considered a weapon."
So no body chuck any watermelons!

It was a weapon when the leo hit the poster in the head with it. :)

I kept my cheater bar between the door and the driver's seat, and that's certainly bigger than a 6D Maglite. I also carried a handgun in my truck, as well. Bearing in mind that I followed carry and transport laws to a T, I never caught any flack over that.

Doesn't wearing a flack jacket get a bit uncomfortable after a few hours?:biggrin_2559:
