oh yeah nevermind I forgot you were the original poster. ABF has an opening for City. Did I already tell you that? I tell everybody.
If you want, go north on Orange Ave and make a right on Landstreet and within 300 feet you have Wilson, Benton, FedEx and UPS. You can go ask for the managers. -
HECK YEA - Pepsi looks good on a 'resume'! Every time I have tried to get on with ANY local - I get overlooked! Jron 2112 needs to consider himself VERY lucky!! I even went into a place where they hired a "permit holder" then me!! McClain said "too much backing" for me!!?? What do they think I am doing now!? Local FedEx "wanted" 5 drivers - 5 showed up 2 got booted for having NO CDL & out of the 3 left - the "2 dudes" got hired & not me!!
Am I sore - HELL YEA - tried of being over looked for what THEY think I can not do!! Dude needs to stay put for 1yr & then consider options "AFTER" calling & researching them! -
I went to Benton couple months back when they had a "now hiring class A drivers" sign. They want you to have hazmat before you even take an app. Manager was a prick, and their equipment and yard looked just as bad as Central Transports lol I'd go next door to Wilson and all those other places. I have also seen some daycab Mack's hauling scrap dump trailers they have a yard on landstreet by Sydney Hayes. It's called Bulk express, I'd like to see what they are all about.

I used to work at Sysco and they're hiring. Good Co. with good overall compensation package and benefits. Sygma is off Landstreet near OBT and its teams I think. There owned by Sysco and a lot of there drivers transfer to Sysco. Its a hard job with long hours, 55-60+ hours a week. My last year, 2012, I made just under 80,000 and some make more. You would start lower though.

Why did you leave?

Herniated disc. I'm 45 and wasn't the oldest there but its a young mans job IMO. I worked with guys that have been doing it for 30+ years. Wish I could go back but its not physically possible. If your young, strong and not afraid of the work its not a bad gig. They hired a lot of beer and soda guys.

I'm averaging around 50k right now at pepsi. I probably do harder work then food service too :/. Reinhart, lipari, usf, and Sysco are all around me. Most req one yr tho. Usf said 6 months beverage experience but I've heard negative things.
