With my famous 93 COE with the unlimited speed, at 130 the fuel mileage dropped to around 3.8 a gallon which is pretty much flat out, wide open. Now that is around 35 gallons burned in a hour. If there is a slope or grade once momentum wears off and she digs in at 90 in the sweet 1600 to 1700 RPM and begins to lug towards 1400 shift down... fuel burn increases exponetally. Something like 50 gallons a hour.
Theoratically 300 gallons gives 6 hours at 130... at max upgrade of 90. Thus... 500 miles.
That's pretty much about the 220 mile altitude of the ISS Station orbiting the earth...
On flat ground eastbound in the midwestern prarires it becomes a 30 gallon a hour burn for 10 hours before tanks are dry. In 10 hours Im a thousand miles gone.
DOT will want to write tickets. Big ones.
It did have that fuel monitoring gauge next to the RPM gauge on the left end of the dash, giant red needle with a flashing light every time you dug into the red and fell out of the green part of the dial with a big buzzer. I found the wire to buzzer and light... SNIP. Company was none the wiser. Used to play games to try and pull the fuel burn needle to either extreme. Company went nuts when the downloaded recordings showed the excessive behavior that rig did. over time. I think they wanted to shoot me.
65mph vs 70mph

Sometimes I have to scratch my head and try to figure out, "WHAT were they THINKING!!!???", when I drive a customer's truck. Often I am pulling a pump or sand chief at up to 110,000 gross weight, burning fuel at 2.5 mpg if I am lucky, and they have ONE fuel tank with 100 gallon capacity.
Dave_in_AZ and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Which is why I have banged head on the dash board many times saying to boss man, put a third or forth fuel tank on that empty frame space and quit #####ing about me fueling hauling 110K. Make it 120 K and a thousand gallons of freaking fuel in 4 big shiny tanks.... Sheesh.Lepton1 Thanks this.

Well it's a law of physics. You don't get something for nothing.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Driving 650 miles with the 65mph truck you make $318
Driving 705 miles with the 70mph you make 338... $20 more...
I drive 65 now and hate it.. 70 I'd a bit better.. but if average miles are the same... It's be best to make more cpm and drive 65... If those are realistic companies then what I'm making needs some improvement -
This is when it would be nice to have the freedom to work as one sees fit...x1Heavy Thanks this.

Son, that’s common core math. You don’t need that junk. Long division is the way, the truth and the life.spyder7723, sevenmph, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this.

*Groans, I hate to see a generation of wee children ruined, I say totally and utterly ruined by this common core crap. Have you seen what it does to a math problem on paper today? Hell, the old way of math on paper is not allowed anymore...
