Haven't done this conversion but there's no physical reason it cant be done.
The parts prices out here make it non cost effective, reman cranks alone cost $10000 AU dollars, Until 18 months ago we were able to buy a brand new C16 for $38000 AU dollars. so we'd yank the engine and fit a new one, same power, cost around the same but you get new everything and 2 years warranty. Things are different now but, we can only get reman engines not new ones and the cost is $45000AU dollars, gotta wonder how that works?

Why wouldn't you just rebuild the E and change the ECM to make 600hp???

The liners on a 14.6 would be stronger than the liners on a 15.8......Yes????

Good question but would it be ran harder than building the 15.8. Also it would be more effectied at 15.8 i would think.

Another question if we build the 15.8 and leave the 550 ecm inj and turbo on it what will happen.

owner may need to get them later.

I would say it will run like a sick dog:biggrin_25513:

IMO rebuild it as a stock 6TS when the owner gets some more coin talk to PDI,I saw on there site they had a deal for a big boss turbo, coated manifold and a ECM for $5k I thought that sounded good.

The only difference is the liner thinkness, I have never seen an issue with thinkness causing a failure, most of the C16 liner failures are due to the liner fretting which is supposed to be caused by the longer stroke, but (IMHO) poor cylinder block design/materials/machining seems more likely. I've never seen a C16 get past 1000000km without liner issues but the older 15.8 liter 3406Es were fine and I have never seen one fail early with liner fretting issues.

Cant say for sure how it will run, I think it should run ok though, after all people put 600hp ECMs on C15s and they run ok.

There are positives and negatives to both ways, if you are running factory 600hp spec 15.8 litre the EPA cant bother you but it will generally be heavier on fuel for the same horsepower, a 600hp 15.8 litre will also have better low down torque than a 600hp 14.6 litre. Building a 15.8 litre would probably be the most expensive way to get the 600 horsepower though.
