You are partly right. The catch being. If the motor carrier has stricter guidelines. Those will apply. So, since Stevens requires it. So will DOT.
-

Dot will enforce the regs. They will not enforce anything stricter added by any company. Not likely they would even know about it and even less likely that they would care.kylefitzy, otherhalftw, InTooDeep and 2 others Thank this.

I can't find it. But they will if they know about it. Trust me on this one.
-

I would like to see proof that because your carrier requires it, it's a DOT violation if you don't put on what they don't require.kemosabi49 and Mattmanstroked Thank this.

Since you have to be on duty to inspect the , truck which is required. It really doesn't make any difference, I have always loged a pretrip, I don't log the post trip. A DOT was going to give me a ticket at the POE in New Mexico untill another LEO said it was not required.
-

Every Safety Dept I have ever had enforces it.
-

No. I actually read the rule. It's actually ticking me off that I can't find it.
-

	Because there isn't one...

When the newest PC guidance came out the director of FMCSA claimed that companies can make more restrictive policies. That was the extent of it though. Nothing about DOT enforcing a company policy.

I would love to see the LEO try explaining that citation to a judge.
Judge: "What law is the citation written for?"
LEO: "It's a company policy violation...."
Judge: "Case dismissed, and if you ever bring something that stupid to my court again, I'm going to charge you with contempt of court."
