The rates around here are killer right now. 4-6 a mile for flat and dry van on 150-300mi short hauls. 1755 to run a van load into NYC. 380 mi round trip. Plastic pipe, tmc's cheap back haul to get back south paid 1500 on like 240 or 250mi
A first time for everything.

Across the st from willow that big warehouse and a few other warehouses around the back side of the loves-blue streakin is storage for Raymond fork trucks. Were in house carrier for them. His company trucks just shuttle from Norwich to kirkwood. Lots of new Amazon warehouses going up. That's where most of em are going.
They go in a van not a flatbzinger Thanks this. -
This is exactly what I did and don't regret it one bit.SteveScott Thanks this.

Update.
So my company calls me up yesterday morning and tells me that I did the right thing and they are paying me a tidy sum for my troubles. I told them that wasn't necessary because they didn't make any money on the deal but they insisted.
Then he asks me if I would go back there to get the load because the shipping mgr. called and apologized and said they would make it right. I said I will give it 1 hour and then I was leaving and they agreed.
I get there and ask for the manager and she was already waiting in the shipping office. She proceeded to apologize profusely and thanked me for coming back. I was given a door and loaded in under an hour. When I went to sign the bills she asked me what happened the previous day and I explained it to her and she said she would approve any amount of detention my company requested. I told her that at the end of the day all I am trying to do is take care of their customer.
An hour after I left the big boss called me to tell me he received an email from the shipper praising me for my professionalism in how I handled myself and was a credit to my company. I must admit i was shocked.
End of storyRedForeman, CorsairFanboy, kemosabi49 and 7 others Thank this. -
You were told you were not important, not a priority. With a hour early to appointment to boot.
I just love that. The irony or simple conficious like question. Important enough for a appointment (Oh MY... what service... and greetings) and not important enough to load worth a dam all day. (HA.. join the club.)
I think I would have done the same. If there were other problems in my mind that day enough to push the waters over the mental dam.
In fact... I have deliberately or carefully staged just enough trouble to have the shipper or reciever call my company and inform them that I AM BANNED. But not enough ruckus that I would be arrested.
Problem solved.
That is until a company begins to fire drivers for getting banned. Or in my case decades later sent back there to that outfit as a team with wife remembering the original ban and wonder if they remember me. (Not long. its usually someone saying YOU AGAIN! OMFG.) if they worked there that long. (Two places did....)
You can probably forget that particular shipper and it's customers as part of your future work from now on.
Just don't make a habit of it or someone will notice and eliminate YOU from trucking either as a employed driver or as a motor carrier who wont carry. -
That rocks ! Good job! ....he'll I might even send you some money lmao .THE ROOKIE and Feedman Thank this.

I am alseep at the switch today and just read this update.
That completely nullifies whatever I wrote.
I think YOU WANT to keep doing business with them now that THEY KNOW TO LOAD YOU IN A HOUR OR FAST from now on.
Whoever was at fault that bad day must have really been ripped in the big boss office verbally. If not financially for that detention.
I celebrate this breakthrough with you. Enjoy the money. There IS a first time for everything.Lepton1, THE ROOKIE and bzinger Thank this. -
Everyone has one of those days, but we as the professionals have to suck it up and bear with it to get the job done. If not, leave and find a new company to work for.
x1Heavy Thanks this.
