I have in front of me a bill for a delivery I made last week at a Moose lodge. Someone ordered 620 cases of phone book bags and rented space from the lodge to store them.
The shipper is in Hatsboro, PA. The consignee is about 40 miles southwest of here.
This was 10 skids, standard size, at 15000 lbs. The freight charge was $2297.40. The fuel surcharge, at 39.60%, was $909.77. They wanted an inside delivery, so the inside delivery fee is another $600, at $4 per hundred pounds. That was also considered a residential delivery, since they didn't have a dock. The charge for that may be another $200. This adds up to $4007.17, so they did pretty good on that one.
I wish I could see the look on someones face when they get the bill for that inside delivery fee.
