if sugar shows up in your urine as per the DOT dip stick test, you might be ordered to take a blood test.

otherwise, the DOT doctor can by just the urine sample, give you a 3 month card.

that's what i ran into many years ago.

but back then, i just went to my primary care doctor, he told me what to do, i went to another clinic for a DOT card, and then got a 2 year card.

just do not eat high carbs foods the day before and the day of a DOT exam, as well as stay away from beverages like sodas, that have sugar in them.

and lay off the pancake syrup.

i followed those directions and passed my DOT every time.

I’ve never had urine show up on the stick, though my a1C was north of 8 for quite some time, so the glucose issue can show up in a few ways.

Mine was in the low 6s. I had to disclose that on the form when I had my DOT physical earlier this year. I had to get my test results faxed to the company's doctor so they can see for themselves. I'm not for sure if they check for sugar levels at DOT doctor, but you will need to disclose that when you get checked out. I did manage to lower it back to normal, courtesy of eating a lot of rabbit food and cutting out juices and sodas. You'll have to watch carbs too

    48Packard Thanks this.
