So I was driving today down on 35 South and I see a sign that says when lights flashing over height vehicles must exit next exit, Now I'm pretty sure my 53' 13' 6" trailer is a above average vehicle height but what makes me curious is what does it matter if the lights are flashing or not does the bridge magically lower a certain points in the day?
Above average height vehicles?

That's before the split into downtown

Baltimore uses it to protect their I-895 old fort tunnel past the split. Anyone breaking it has to take the Pulaski Exit. That tunnel is actually 13.5 because it will damage the roof which is not acceptable because you in that particular one are actually inside a tube within a tube buried in the seabed. -

If they are protecting a bridge with active lights known to be lower than 13.6 or whatever then you have to get off where the signs tell you to go. You do not want to hit it and be derided like another 11.8 bridge idiot. -

Have you ever measured your height?
Most box haulers never have.
Legal height in Texas is 14’Brettj3876 Thanks this. -
Another bridge in Mechanicsburg east PA was signed for 13.6 for that particular road by PennDOT but they had recently added about 6 inches of blacktop under it. So it's 13.0 and failed to update the signage.
A local lawman lassoed me as soon I made the turn. We spent some time arguing about that stupid bridge until he finally explained to me why we are going through all this. I figure he saved my life and Boss a whole lot of damage that day. -
